5 climbers summited. Everyone safely back to high camp.

13-day course doing great!

Guide Seth Timpano called in today, and said the group is doing great. They had beautiful weather and great conditions for the first few days, practicing mountaineering skills in Sahale Basin. They successfully climbed Sahale, and then switched gears for a few days of rock climbing around Washington Pass and Leavenworth. They will then choose another venue in the North Cascades, based on weather and group assessment, for the last few days of the course. With the heat we're having here in Washington, shady routes will be preferable for the long sunny days.

The team is at high camp and excited to be heading for the summit this evening.

Lead Guide Seth Timpano called in from Boston Basin to say they are having beautiful weather, everyone is doing well, and the hope to summit Sahale today (Wednesday). They spent yesterday practicing crevasse rescue up in Boston Basin. The group will move on to more rock climbing-focused training at the end of the week, and then plans to head back into the North Cascades to put their practice to use on longer alpine routes.

Mt. Shuksan climb

Pat, Jeff, and I are on our way to climb Mount Shuksan's Fisher Chimneys route. Today we enjoyed  a lovely hike from the trailhead near the Mount Baker ski area, past the still frozen Lake Ann, to our bivouac site on the edge of the Lower Curtis Glacier. It is incredible how dramatic the scenery here on Mount Shuksan is! We spent the afternoon snacking on chocolate, soaking in the alpine sun, and listening to the crash of ice calving off the upper Curtis Glacier. What a wonderful place to spend he night! We are fired up to climb tomorrow. -Eitan
