Getting ready to summit
We have reached our "high camp" at the Ingraham flats glacier, and are preparing for our summit attempt. Everyone did a great job today learning how to properly use the ice axe, crampons, and climbing rope.

Muir climb is at high camp!
A bit of wind, but otherwise a beautiful night at our Ingraham flats high camp. We'll depart early tomorrow morning to attempt the summit.
Keeping it real on my birthday
The whole group is safe at camp Muir and greatly looking forward to the climb ahead. Beautiful day on the snow field yesterday and upper mountain is in great shape which bodes well for our climb. Bit of a lenticular cloud today which is indicative of upper moisture and winds so we will try climbing in the early hours when it hopefully has dissipated. Stu

Sunset summit success!
Our 3 day Muir climb successfully got 5 climbers and 3 guides to the summit around 7:30 this evening. We were graced with great weather and beautiful 360 degree sunset views. Tomorrow will be more relaxed as we leave high camp and return to Paradise.
July 22-27 6-day Course
Guide Eric Salazar called to check-in from the 6-day climb. The group is out on the south side of Mt. Baker enjoying a beautiful day with views of the North Cascades. Everyone is doing well and looking forward to putting skills to the test on their summit attempt in a couple days.
July 21-23 Ladies Summit!
The July 21-23 3-day trip returned last night after a fun and windy summit day. Six climbers and three guides made the summit under fairly clear skies. A great time was had by all with this fun-loving group of women!

8-day Emmons course Summits!
The July 13-20 8-day Emmons course had a successful summit bid yesterday, and the mountaineering skills and techniques learned over the previous week were put into practice. The team heads down the mountain and back to the van today, with a stop for a course-end dinner on the way back to Seattle. photo credit: Devin Bishop
July 17-19 Muir Climb
Five climbers, along with guides Stuart Robertson, Nick Mullan and Peter Moore summited yesterday
morning in sunny, but breezy conditions. It was a great climb and three of
the climbers were tenacious enough to come back and summit after their team
was forced to turn back due to weather on a climb last September. Congratulations! photo credit: Peter Moore

10-day Mountaineering course returns
The July 9-18 mountaineering course returned yesterday. The winds died down a bit, as hoped, but challenging snow and ice conditions led to the decision to turn around after reaching just about the top of the chute. The team descended safely and returned to Seattle in the afternoon.

Safely at Muir
Dodging lightning yet again as seems to be the way in the pacific nw for the past couple of weeks. Team is doing great and looking forward to the climb ahead. Unfortunately David had to descend down with Pete Athans team and we wish him all the best. Everyone has done there homework fitness wise and it bodes well for a safe and successful climb. Stuart

10-day climbers waiting a day for summit push
The July 9-18 mountaineering course climbers had 100% summit success on Mt. Baker, and are working on keeping a perfect record with their attempt of the Kautz route on Mt. Rainier.
The team is taking a rest/ weather day at the base of the Wilson glacier today. High winds have been reported on the upper mountain and the guides decided to hold tight until tomorrow before moving up and making a summit attempt in the early hours on Wednesday morning. The group is doing well, with Danny Ozment and Dennis Haskell having joined Sam Hennessey and Lead guide Matt Hegeman for the summit bid.
The forecast calls for improving weather by Wednesday, and we wish the team all the best for summit day.

8- day Emmons course turns back on summit day
Lead guide Phil Marino called in this morning with a report that the upper mountain on the Emmons route has been majorly affected by the weather over the past few days. There is a good surface freeze layer but underneath is an isothermal snowpack. This means the temperature is the same throughout the snow pack, and the snow loses cohesion and becomes unsupportive. The route is currently very exposed, and with the current snow pack conditions the team decided to turn around at the top of the Corridor for the safety of the team. Everyone is doing well and is safely back at Camp Shurman after a challenging early morning summit attempt.
Woot woot!!!
Blogging from the summit of mount rainier 545 am. Below is a pic of Robert, Jim, and Darrell on top. Nice work!
